Check on the Reference & Tryout Practice page. - I’m pretty sure I won’t make the team. Why should I come to tryouts?
The tryouts are 24 interesting and hard problems. The experience of trying out for the teams is very different from any other contest around. Even if you don’t make it, the experience is valuable. If you aren’t yet a senior, trying out can give you an edge next year. The only cost to you is your transportation and time. Also, we select about 15 freshmen and sophomores who we think have promise based on a combination of tryout scores and coaches’ recommendations. You can make this team with a low tryout score, but you can’t make the team if you don’t try out. More information on this team, the D-Team, can be found on Coach Karafiol’s D-Team site.

Roughly how many questions does one have to get correct to gain a position on the team? Last year I recall being on D-team with 6, I think, but that can’t be the case for the higher teams.

It varies significantly from year to year depending on the tryout questions and the students taking the tryout.
