- What is ARML?
ARML is the American Regions Math League. It is a national high school level math competition for teams of 15 students. Most teams are regional (drawing from an entire city, county, or state or part of a state), although there are some teams fielded by single schools. - When is the 2009 ARML competition?
Saturday, May 30, 2009 (Friday and Saturday, May 29-30 at the West Coast site). - Where is the 2009 ARML competition?
The 2009 ARML competition will be held simultaneously at sites at Penn State, the University of Iowa, and UNLV. - What is the format of the ARML competition?
Teams of 15 students from a variety of regions compete on a national level. The competition is comprised of the following events:- Power Round.
The entire team works together to write complete solutions to a series of
questions focused on a single topic, often involving proofs. 50 minutes. - Team Round.
The entire team works on 10 short-answer questions. 20 minutes. - Individual Round.
Each member of the team works on their own on 4 sets of two short-answer questions. 10 minutes per pair of questions. - Relay Round.
Each team is divided into 5 3-person relay teams. Two relay sets are given, where the second and third person on each team is given a question dependent on the answer for the question of the person in front of them. Only the third person’s answer counts. 6 minutes per set.
The team’s score is the total of points accrued through the rounds of the competition.

Is it true that the chicago team is going to the West Coast site instead of Iowa this year?

At this time, we are still planning to go to the Iowa site.
